There are several different kinds of towel, which are made and used in a variety of intentions

Mainly they are used to dry out, pat and get rid of whatever is in question but although they all fall under the same group of cloth, they’re completely different.

For example you wouldn’t dry your kitchen cutlery having a beach towel, nor do you lie down on cotton tea towels on the beach.

Your bathroom towel is needed for drying the body after washing or going swimming. It is usually large (the size of your body) and rectangle-shaped, with a standard size around 30″?60″. It is sometimes otherwise referred to as a bath sheet.

A beach towel is similar for the reason that it’s a large rectangular towel nevertheless this one is usually a bit bigger. Though it is often used for drying off after being in the water, its main purpose would be to give a surface to lie on, such as on a sunbed, lounger or at the beach.

They are also worn for privacy while changing clothes in a public area for instance in a swimming changing room. They often come in a variety of colours, themes and designs.

Another type of towel is the foot towel. It is about the same size of linen tea towels but is used if you do not have a rug or bathroom mat, to be placed on the floor after showering as to not drench the flooring.

A hand towel is of similar scope but is used to dry your hands after washing.

The word kitchen towel, also known as tea towels, can be used in the kitchen for drying plates, cups and cutlery. They derive from the 18th century, whenever a tea towel was a special linen drying cloth used by the mistress of the house to dry her precious and expensive china tea things.
